PROFESSIONAL:

Director of the Imperial Valley Artist Collective. Board member of the North County Coalition of Arts, City of El Centro Arts Commissioner (for Nocca), Building Director & Instructor for the House of Cultural Arts .
Owner of Unwind & Design Creative Studios & Owner of Kimberly Alfaro's Art. CEO at Alfaro & Massey LLC.

PROFESSIONAL GOALS:

My goal is to expand the presence of the arts in my community and to create a cultural exchange beyond our borders. To link Artists together while networking & coordinating with valley wide entities. To create events, classes and establish collaborative beautification projects throughout my county. Ultimately creating an increase in artistic development and awareness.

ART GOALS:

To allow myself to exceed the limitations I have placed within my mind, creativity, and capacity.

WHO AM I & WHY MY STYLE:

Cultural identity is something that makes a large impact in my work style. I consider myself a melting pot & my work is a large way I express the many sides to myself that I embody throughout my daily routine and throughout my life.
A large part of my identity is the infamous "Chicano" culture , in combination with a 1/2 confused 1st generation of an immigrant that grew up with the transition of the Internet boom in the United States and who grew up as a Christian.
We are all different and I strive to understand and harness my differences and portray, defy and understand them. I am also a person that is highly sensitive to my surroundings, I embrace and am constantly being bombarded with sounds, smells, flavors, ideas, thoughts, textures, light changes and the list goes on and on.
Because of all this, I have delved into many types of styles, genres & consider myself a mixed media artist & I have a wide variety of different work.

ART THAT IS PERSONAL:

I like to use my work as an expressive form to shine the light on multiple subjects & objectives.
The struggle of immigrants in their own countries, the process of them arriving to this country capturing from various perspectives their individual beauty, tragedy, goals and struggles they encounter once here.
As a female, I use my work to explore female empowerment, while maintaining my own views on balance, thus acknowledging the strength and beauty of women. Using bright colors & females as primarily my focus work.
Through symbolism & satire I hope to shed the light on a variety of social issues such as: cultural dominance, personal, minority and racial bias, human and media manipulation, different forms of extremism, physical, mental, self, spouse and child abuse and addictions.
I would hope to depict what we have come to as a species; the evils, beauty and cluelessness of our society.

PHOTOGRAPHY:

In my photography I implement art elements, principles & techniques.
Depicting things that go unnoticed throughout our mundane lives that always seem to call my attention.
I hope to use my work to change perspectives on our surroundings energy.
Through my portrait work I like to bring out personalities, causing reactions though transmitted energy using shadow, light & color manipulation .
My photography exudes personalities, beauty & emotions within mundane & living things within our own life .

Though I specialize in portrait work, I also provide a large variety in the spectrum of types of work that can be commissioned. I work in: Graphite, Charcoal, Colored Pencil, Acrylic, Watercolor , Oil, Pastels and more.
